Detailed Itinerary

Arrive at Dehradun Airport and meet our representative. Drive towards Uttarkashi through scenic mountain roads following the Bhagirathi River.

On arrival, check in at the hotel and relax after the journey. In the evening, visit the sacred Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Uttarkashi and attend the evening prayer and Aarti, offering a peaceful spiritual beginning to the journey.

Overnight stay at Uttarkashi.

After breakfast, drive from Uttarkashi to Gangotri (2,620 m), one of the most sacred pilgrimage towns in India.

On arrival, check in at the guest house or lodge and soak in the spectacular mountain surroundings. In the evening, visit the Gangotri Temple and take a short walk through the local market for last minute purchases if required.

Overnight stay at Gangotri.

After breakfast, begin the trek from Gangotri (3,100 m) towards Chirbassa (3,600 m).

The trail is mostly on even terrain with a gentle gradient and offers beautiful early views of Sudarshan Peak. Walk through pine forests and along the Bhagirathi River to reach the forest campsite at Chirbassa, a beautiful camping spot beside the river.

Overnight stay in tents at Chirbassa.

After breakfast, continue trekking towards Bhojwasa (3,800 m).

The trail is short and pleasant, with excellent views of the Bhagirathi Peaks and the Gaumukh Glacier in the distance. On arrival, check in at the campsite and have lunch.

In the afternoon, proceed for a short acclimatisation hike towards Gaumukh and return to Bhojwasa by evening to help with altitude adjustment and photography.

Dinner and overnight stay in tents or guest house at Bhojwasa.

After breakfast, start the trek towards Gaumukh (4,100 m), the sacred snout of the Gangotri Glacier.

The trail becomes steeper and more demanding as you approach Gaumukh. On reaching Gaumukh, spend time in prayer and reflection at the source of the River Ganga, one of the most spiritual experiences of the trek. After spending time here, trek back downhill to Bhojwasa.

Overnight stay at Bhojwasa.

After an early breakfast, start the trek from Bhojwasa towards Gaumukh and further to Tapovan (4,450 m).

Cross the vast Gangotri Glacier and climb steeply to reach the magnificent alpine meadow of Tapovan. Tapovan is a spectacular high altitude meadow situated at the base of Mt. Shivling, offering breathtaking close views of Shivling, Bhagirathi Peaks, Mt. Meru, and surrounding giants.

After spending time exploring the meadow, trek back carefully to Bhojwasa by evening.

Overnight stay in tents at Bhojwasa.

After breakfast, trek down from Bhojwasa to Gangotri via Chirbassa.

On arrival, enjoy a hot lunch at Gangotri and then board the vehicle for the drive to Uttarkashi. Check in at the hotel and relax after the long trekking days.

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and drive back to Dehradun.

Arrive at Dehradun by late afternoon. Depart with unforgettable memories of the sacred Gaumukh Tapovan Trek.
