About the Yatra

The Panch Kedar Yatra is one of the most sacred pilgrimages dedicated to Lord Shiva, deeply rooted in Hindu mythology. According to legend, after the Mahabharata war, the Pandavas sought Lord Shiva’s blessings to atone for their sins. Lord Shiva appeared in different forms at five Himalayan locations, which are now worshipped as the Panch Kedar temples.

These five sacred shrines—Kedarnath, Madhyamaheshwar, Tungnath, Rudranath and Kalpeshwar—are located in remote and pristine regions of the Garhwal Himalayas. The yatra is not only a spiritual journey but also a test of devotion, endurance and faith. Each temple represents a unique manifestation of Lord Shiva and offers devotees a profound sense of peace and divine connection.

Undertaking the Panch Kedar Yatra is believed to cleanse the soul, strengthen spiritual belief and bring one closer to the essence of Lord Shiva amidst the serene and powerful Himalayan landscape.
